When writing systems were invented in ancient civilisation, this system can be written on nearly everything including stone, clay, tree bark and metal sheets. Alphabetic writing emerged in Egypt about 5,000 years ago. Papyrus, a thick paper-like material made by weaving of the stems of the papyrus plant, then pounding the woven sheet with a hammer-like tool, was used for writing in Ancient Egypt. Professor you started by saying we will be discussing what we have learned throughout the term units one through 9. Also you told the class that you would like us to turn in our unit 9 assignments by Friday, any time by Friday night so you could have the weekend to grade and return back to us. You had a trouble accessing the unit 8 drop box, so you informed everyone who has submitted their assignment that they should email the assignment to you instead, but everything should be working ust fine.We started the seminar with the handout and PowerPoint. Unit9 handout what is this course all about. Some questions raised is how does these skills play out in the legal field, you answered it by saying we really need is a mythological. Step one in the legal field you must always define the facts, someone might come to you asking for advise, you must always define the facts when facts are presented, get facts complete and correct about what has happened. Second step is who are the clients, who do I represent. Step three what is the objective, which is to when on behalf of my client.Step four what are the claims. Step five; you must map the fact against the statutes and common law. Step 6, do the research, step 8 is go for the win, you present your facts and findings. Everything we have learned in the past nine units is what the big picture is in the long run of the legal field. There are three Distinct type of writing; HRAC historical, legal memorandum, brief. We went on to the PowerPoint, which focuses on the legal memorandum. In a legal emorandum you must always keep in mind the analysis, can you win. e discussed using the Legal memorandum on unit 9 assignment, you have us the opportunity if those who want to do a legal memorandum will get an extra 5 points. Putting together a memorandum, Step 1 who are you representing, step 2 what is a win, step3 capture all the facts and discard all irrelevant facts. Step 4 is to do the research, research anything we can get our han ds on. Step five would be to back track and make sure you covered any and all facts possible. Key sites everything. To pile for the client, what is good and what is bad.Step 8 is to do a discussion based on all the information given. You stressed how you would prefer the class to try the legal memorandum that you have discussed in the power point do to it be the way it will be done in the legal field. In the legal field, law firms don't go down the list. the 5 points. For the conclusion portion you stated that is may be 0k, to state that there can be a low chance that the law firm may when the case, do to sufficient evidence, or we ould state that we have a high chance at winning, of course every case is not winnable.Based on the law, that is what are conclusion is based on. A classmate brought up the question of statute of limitation to which you replied that we should assume that there are no statute of limitation that was a really great question. our final exam will cover everyth ing that we have learned from unit 1-9. I understand that this will be our last seminar professor, and I can't stress enough how much I appreciate you feedback and help with regards to turning in my work. I thank you.

A Smart Action Plan
A Smart Action Plan After I had started my first year at University I realised that if I want to become a successful student it is crucial to develop time-management skills. It is based on identifying our goals, prioritising and listing them in order to help us achieve the best result. We also need to identify our strengths, look at our work and think how we could improve it to get a better result in the future. We can do so using a diary or personal organiser. Time-management skills are very important because if we know how to organize our time properly, we can carry out more and meet deadlines. It is important to start with setting our priorities because sometimes there is no time to complete all of them. We need to be aware that some of them might take longer than we expected so we should write somewhere what we want to do and when we want to do it. Resources: We should start with identifying our goals and priorities. When doing so, we need to be realistic and definite about them. We must precise wh at needs to be done, how and when. Then, it is recommended to start keeping an academic diary or a personal organizer where we can write in everything we do (such us important dates or study activities). It will help us to look at the way we work and identify where further improvements can be made. (Oxford Brookes University) To take the most out of the diary we should always carry it with us and keep it up to date. It is also recommended to check it many times a day and add new tasks straight into it. The last step is to identify how we spend the time in order to see if we use it productively. We need to list the work we have to do and precise the amount of time we want to spend on carrying out particular tasks. The most important things should be highlighted or stared that can be easily seen, where the least important ones should be written in a pencil so we can change or remove them easily. (Cottrell S., 2003) Reflective comment: The first thing I did in order to improve my time- management skills was doing some background reading. I used a chapter of a book recommended by my tutor as well as some online resources. It gave me understanding of which steps should be taken in order to became successful. I started with identifying my goal, which was preparing a good set of notes for my oncoming exam. Then I started writing in a diary activities I was planning to do. The most important ones I wrote in using a pen (such as searching for material for my notes) and less important in pencil (like going to the store or meeting someone). The following, I highlighted the most important one so every time I opened my diary it was the first thing I saw. It was a reminder of what is need to be done. Then I identified how much time I want to spend on these tasks.

South Texas Behavioral Health Center Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
South Texas Behavioral Health Center - Assignment Example With this in mind, it is important to concentrate on one specific player in the industry such as South Texas Behavioral Health Center, in order to get a clear picture of some of the strategies employed to gain competitive advantage. This requires a critical analysis and evaluation of both the internal and external environment of the health center. Gaining competitive advantage in the healthcare industry requires the provision of effective health care services. In most parts of the world, provision of health care services is done on a face-to-face basis with increased interactions between health care providers and patients. This implies that for health care providers to gain competitive advantage, it is important to improve interaction quality. For example, South Texas Behavioral Health Center specializes in providing personalized health care services that are carried out by highly qualified professionals led by a team of experienced psychiatrists (South Texas Behavioral Health Center, 2015). As such the quality of service delivery is seemingly high hence giving significant satisfaction to patients. The greatest resource in the healthcare industry is arguably a skilled and experienced workforce to ensure competence and quality service delivery. Nevertheless, incorporation of qualified physicians is a provision of the industry a s an effort to ensure appropriate service delivery. This can be attributed to the fact that the health industry is highly sensitive since it deals with the preservation of human health and life. However, the decision to ensure that health care providers are experienced is an effort by the health center to improve service quality hence gaining a competitive advantage due to patient satisfaction. South Texas Behavioral Health Center offers quality health care service through its six acute care hospitals.Conclusively, the healthcare industry plays an important role in the society since it ensures the health of the people. However, health care providers have to employ effective management strategies to ensure they gain competitive advantage. Health centers mainly focus on improving service delivery quality by ensuring they have a competent workforce. However, policies surrounding the healthcare industry provide for quality service delivery by ensuring employment of only qualified worker s. Additionally, the success of a health care center is heavily dependent on the external factors such as its positioning the level of competition it faces from other health centers. Therefore, it is important for health care centers to ensure they employ effective management strategies.
Foreign Direct Investment in Burkina Faso Essay
Foreign Direct Investment in Burkina Faso - Essay Example From this paper it is clear thatà  the host country for FDI stands to benefit in a number of ways in terms of capital formation, export diversification, technology import, management system improvement, and enhanced market competition, infrastructure development to support economic activity, financial sector growth, and markets development.According to the reportà  FDI is a powerful engine in helping to achieve country objectives such as those about poverty reduction, development, and international integration and it is perceived to be an international investment route that most developed economies have embraced. Low income countries in Africa, for example, have not taken this advantage and are thus being excluded from the globalization benefits of FDI.à  Burkina Faso is a landlocked sub-Saharan country located in West Africa. Its population is estimated at more than sixteen million people. Burkina Faso experiences limited rainfall and their natural resources are minimal and there fore it is referred to as one of the poorest countries in Africa. Poor farming activities and the existing drought have ruined the environment resulting in decrease of food stuff. The main export product for Burkina Faso is cotton accounting for about 60% of the countryââ¬â¢s total exports, or 5% of GDP.à  The country has limited resources and is highly prone to external vulnerabilities because its economy is heavily reliant on imports rather than exports, despite the country entering into intraregional trade liberalization agreements.

Shuttle Wagons Project Plan Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Shuttle Wagons Project Plan - Essay Example After completion, the tunnel is meant to join the United Kingdom and France. It will be the longest underwater tunnel in the whole world with a total length of 50 kilometers. The tunnel is inherently a rail transport system, which will enable Eurotunnel, to avail a dive-on shuttle service for the normal road vehicles between the two terminals. Project background Eurotunnel contracted TransManche Link (TML) for the building of the channel tunnel. TML then subcontracted different roll shock manufactures for the buildings of the Shuttle Wagons. The project had a tight timescale and had heavy liquidated damages that were associated with the delays. This paper looks at the design and the manufacture of the transport vehicles called the Shuttle Wagons. The first half of the passenger shuttles comprises a locomotive, twelve single deck wagons for the coaches, the off-loaded wagon, and a loader wagon. The other half is comprised of a similar design but has a two-tier system of wagons for car s. Each single deck is designed to carry a coach while the double deck wagons are designed to carry a maximum of five cars in every deck, which adds up to ten in a single wagon (Harris, 2006 p32). The wagons were designed to enclose the passengers in the vehicles providing a fire resistance for thirty minutes. The reason for this design was that the journey from one terminal to another takes about five minutes. If, by chance, a fire started at the time the shuttle enters the tunnel, the fire would be contained up to the time the shuttle will reach the other end of the tunnel. The policy of keeping the passengers in the shuttle until the wagon reached its destination enables any residual incident to be dealt with in the specially designed emergency siding (Harris, 2006 p67). There was the need to have a drive on and off system that required the unrestricted access to the entire length of the twelve wagon units during the loading and the unloading process. The design concept also requ ired each wagon to be self-contained with a fire resisting enclosure for the whole journey; it was essential to have fire shutters at the end of each wagon. Identification of project management related issues The design parameters became a challenge and had to ensure that there is minimum protrusion into the wagon in practice. The design also had to incorporate pass doors through which passengers were expected to evacuate in case of emergencies like a fire outbreak, it has a minimum of 30 minutes of fire resistance and could withstand the pressure regime of the shuttle passing along the tunnel. The shutters also had to have a minimum leakage rate to maintain the least fire extinguishing concentration of Halon within the Wagon (Harris, 2006 p67). The major aspects of the design operation and construction of the channel tunnel required the approval of the intergovernmental commission. The major focus, at the beginning of the project, was on the safety, security, defense, and the envir onmental issues. This shows that at first the design parameters were not certain during the designing phase (Harris, 2006 p45). Partly in the middle of the project, it became emerged that the design changes

Approaches Towards Learning Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Approaches Towards Learning - Essay Example This paper declares that constructivism promotes learning through reflection upon experiences. Every person has his own way of visualizing things. The understanding of world varies from individual to individual depending upon the way he/she reflects upon his/her experiences. In education, constructivism increases the studentsââ¬â¢ capacity and tendency to learn by making them adjust their minds according to the pedagogical style of the teacher. However, constant adjustment may deprive the students of their originality. Constructivism is an experience-based approach towards learning. In classroom, students share their experiences with one another to broaden one anotherââ¬â¢s knowledge. Sometimes constructivism leads to too much storytelling that deviates from the original topic. This essay concerns problem-based learning, which is a student-driven pedagogical style whereby students understand a concept through study of complex realistic problems related to it. In problem-based learning, students work in groups to identify the extent to which they are already familiar with the subject, areas that need pondering, and resources that may be consulted to resolve the problem at hand. In education, students understand the subject more thoroughly than they do in conventional learning methods, but too much analysis of one problem leaves too many other problems unstudied because of time constraints.

Destination Report & Presentation Research Paper
Destination Report & Presentation - Research Paper Example Leading on from here, the number of tourist sites and services that a person may have at disposal upon visiting a single country is so much. In some cases, the planning of tourism trips has become a problem for travelers when it comes to destination and services selection. It is from this point that the need for the use of information and community technology in making the situation easier becomes necessary. This paper therefore looks at the designing of a location based information delivery system that makes it possible for tourists to access information from various tourism locations and also exchange information to such locations to make the reception of tourism services easier. The researcher opines that this location based information delivery in tourism will serve a two-tier purpose of benefiting both the tourist as a service user and the tourism operators as service providers. More specifically, the destination to be used in this location based information delivery is Ottawa i n Canada, which is one of Canadaââ¬â¢s four largest tourism metropolitan areas (Oââ¬â¢Grady and Oââ¬â¢Hare, 2002). ... In the first place, there is an element of client device that is built to host a web browser. A typical example of such a client device could be a mobile phone, a tablet computer or a laptop (Berger et al, 2007). There is also an element of customized web application server that makes it possible for users to receive and input web contents that meet the context of users. The essence of this element of the system architecture is to ensure that tourists visiting Ottawa have the freedom and will to make choices of selection based on user pre-defined preferences and options (Kjeldskov and Paay, 2005). What is more, it is expected that the system architecture for the location based information delivery system would encompass the presence of a universal description, discovery and integration (UDDI) service directory that focuses on the provision of tourist information services such as hotel accommodation finder services. Such UDDI services would ensure that the search for locations is siev ed and made much easier. More to the above, the presence of a context manager is also very important for the system architecture. This is because with such context manager, data that is input into the system can easier be stored for future retrieval and usage. Such data will be treated by the system as user dynamic context so that for all future searches these options will show up as user preferences, making it easier for future choices to be made. It is expected that some of the user dynamic contexts that will be considered by the system would include but not limited to location, wireless device features, identities, password, and data usage (Schernthanner and

The Contamination of Dirty Bomb Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
The Contamination of Dirty Bomb - Case Study Example The presence of low-level nuclear materials cannot be disputed. The places where low-level nuclear materials are produced are everywhere in the world, and that means that the materials are found everywhere. Ã  After a dirty bomb has exploded, it is necessary to clean up and decontaminate the affected area. All the materials in the place which have been contaminated should be removed from the place of explosion. When a dirty bomb explodes, there are procedures to be followed to decontaminate and clean up the place. Masks should be provided to rescuers to protect them from inhaling dust and other particulates. The relevant authority should observe and monitor the area for possible hazards. There should be equipment in operation to evaluate the oxygen levels, toxic gasses, and flammable gasses. Once the rescue team gets to the point of explosion, they should remove all exploded materials especially cars as these are assumed to be dirty. The personnel should determine the extent area with toxics and should immediately start to evacuate people to safe places. Ã  Large uninjured populations should evacuate themselves. The personnel should provide safe exit routes in conjunction with building managers. The victims should be screened for dose rate, and establish those that need decontamination. The victims should avoid eating or drinking but should go and shower with water and soap. The structures and cars contaminated should not be decontaminated during the initial response process. The contaminated water should be allowed to flow into the drainage systems of the municipal. If possible, the water should be redirected to other channels. The people needing immediate attention should be separated from seriously injured people (Benjamin, 2011). These people should be examined for physical contamination and evacuated.

Fiat. A troubled European Giant. Answer 4 questions+Introduction and Coursework
Fiat. A troubled European Giant. Answer 4 questions+Introduction and Summary - Coursework Example The company fell because of embezzlement of funds by the Agnelli family, which owns about 34% of the normal shares through the holding companies Ifi and Ifil. The Agnelli Family control maintenance has been a priority hence making it hard for Fiat to enter into treacheries and joint businesses that are common among its rivals. Fiat has been investing slowly in the quality improvements and other innovations placing itself at a weak position of quality guarantees when competition was opened in the market. The company had many debts that amounted to 6bn, with its falling selling that fetched it losses. Still in this state about 6000 job were lost and production was stopped in 18 plants. The company offset some ventures such as insurance and aero- engines operations. Even though Mr. Berlusconi had promised to improve economy, cut taxes, and reforms in the structure, he faced troubles to accomplish them as he faced public rejection to the unpalatable changes. Intense competition and a declining market share is the main problem, which causes the following; as domestic brands tend to dominate home market, Fiatââ¬â¢s proportion of sales in Italy is high. Still, this dominance is on decline, as in 2004 domestic brands had fallen approximately for 30% of sales. Fiatââ¬â¢s business face generational turnover and increased overseas competition. Initially, Fiat was closely allied with the government which was instrumental to its post-war economic recovery and which enabled Fiat to shelter from international competition. In addition, the company concentrates on the compact market in European countries whereby with a small company they can continue to pay more attention to the quality of their products. Fiatââ¬â¢s vehicles have been enhanced greatly which made the company get over $ 70 million Euros as the demand of their cars increased. The company needs to turn around the business so that it would be attractive enough for General Motors to its shares. In
You Sherlock Holmes are now knighted Essay Example for Free
You Sherlock Holmes are now knighted Essay He also thought that I was the best detective in Europe. I took him into my study. We both sat down in the study and he said that he was no other than the king of bohemia, my heart started to go a little faster. (But when I was I detective I took cocaine to sharpen my mind and also to carm me down! ) I asked him what his problem was and what he wanted me to do. The king told me he wanted me to get him a picture that Irene Adler had. I wondered silently, the importance of the picture, so I asked him out right The very words he said were that Irene was going to make this picture of him and her, public. If Irene Adler were to make this picture public, then the king of Bohemia would be ruined. The king then went away, I needed to research Irene Adler. So I looked up Irene Adler in my index. My index told me that she was pretty, very popular and she has a very quiet social life, I thought she is only a woman what is the worst that she can do? I was very determined to get the picture because if I were to get this picture then I would get a large bag of gold and a enormous amount of money. Watson and I had now found out a little more about Irene Adler. But for now we needed to get the picture she had in he hands. I went to Briony lodge in a hansom cab. (Which was where Irene Adler was. ) I was there outside Irene Adlers house. I waited for about half an hour, but nothing happened. Then there was some one came out of the house. The person who come out was of briony lodge was Godfrey Norton. Godfrey and Irene went on to the church. Just as they were setting off to the church I could remember hearing Irene screaming twenty sovereigns if you get to the church in twenty minutes. I didnt know what to do, should I look around Irene Adlers house or should I follow them to the church. I had come to my decision. I followed them to the church. I arrived at the church. To my surprise Godfrey Norton had seen me lurking at the back of the church. Godfrey said to me come on we need another person to witness this wedding or else it wont be legal. Now that I had now seen Irene Adler I needed to get the all-important picture that she had. But I thought where would she have the picture hidden? Watson and I tried to guess where Irenes most important place was. I decided that her house would be the safest place for Irene to hide the all-important picture. Watson and I needed to come up with a way to get into her house. I sat down with Watson and I began to tell Watson my Machiavellian plan. First Watson threw a rocket, so that Irene would go to the picture thinking it was fire. While all of this was going on, Holmes in his clergyman disguise would follow Irene to the picture! That was our plan but would it work? All we needed to do now was to but the plan into action. Watson and I went over to Irene Adlers house, to my astonishment there was a fight out side Irenes house. I went to protect Irene from the tussel. I survived, and then went on into Irenes house. I was in the house where the picture of the king was. I waited for a little while then gave the signal for Watson to throw the smoke rocket into the house. Watson threw the rocket into the house, when the rocket entered the fire alarm went off. I followed the beautiful Irene Adler. I was correct in thinking that she would go to the picture. I went home to tell Watson I knew where the picture was! The following day the king came back to my house and demanded me to get the picture. I told the king that Irene Adler was married and that she would not even hesitate to make the picture public. After the case I received a letter; the letter informed me that Irene was working against Watson and me. I then thought that Irene was a lot smarter than I had anticipated. As a result of my work, the king was grateful and rewarded me with jewels. Essay --
Gang Injunctions: Ineffective to Prevent Violent Crimes in California In now days, the increase in gun violence troubles many communities in the United States. Many of the high-crime neighborhoods have become a total gang-controlled area. In 2013, the total number of gangs in the United States are 24,500 (Federal Bureau of Investigations). As major cities in America struggle to respond to the growth of gangs and attendant crime and violence, the law enforcement come up with gang injunctions to reduce crimes rates. Although a couple of gang injunctions have been granted in Texas and Illinois, the overwhelming majority of injunctions have been issued in California. In 2005, the total number of violent crimes were 5,985 alone in San Francisco that year, and 31, 767 in Los Angeles (Disaster Center). According to Matthew Oââ¬â¢Deane, a police officer, and Stephen Morreale, an Assistant Professor of Worcester State University, a study and review was conducted of 25 southern California gang injunctions to understand if civil gang injunctions reduce crime . As a result, the study found that the crime rate decreased by 14.1% in injunction areas. Several California cities recently moved forward with gang injunctions to reduce violent crime rates. Gang injunctions have become a distinct Californian approach to fight crimes since they were first introduced in the 1980s in Los Angeles. The injunctions that have been granted primarily affect impoverished, minority neighborhoods and may actually serve to further stigmatize and oppress innocent minority youth who also live in these communities. Cities have issued them to fight local gangs, and promise that gang injunctions will cut down violent crime rate, and make the neighborhoods more safer; ho... ...ht to defend himself in the court. Moreover, the gang injunctions obtained in the target area should be defined clearly for gang members. It is important to make sure that the identification of the target area are easily understood by both the police and the gang members. Gang injunctions are ineffective way to prevent crimes, because they lead to many problems that hurts the communities. Gang injunctions are suppressions instead of preventions. Therefore, using force would not help to prevent crimes. However, they are legal tools to enable communities to take back their streets and public places from the gangs and gang members that terrorize them. Gang injunctions did contribute to the stabilization of communities and reduce gang-related crimes, they just need improvements to make it more useful and acceptable for both gang members and residents in target areas.
The Great Fall of Authority :: Essays Papers
The Great Fall of Authority As Alice journeys through Wonderland and Looking-glass Land, she encounters a variety of characters whose nonsensical assertions call into question her tacit ontological assumptions. The strange logic these characters introduce to Alice forces her to acknowledge and reevaluate learned perceptions that she had previously accepted as objective truths. Because many of Carrollââ¬â¢s absurdities bear an exaggerated but recognizable resemblance to observable phenomena in society, the paradoxically meaningful nonsense causes Alice (and the reader) to experience epiphanies about the nature of the phenomena Carroll satirizes. In this way, Carroll cleverly, and ironically, uses nonsense to raise consciousness. Specifically, Carroll employs nonsense in the Alice books to construct a satirical, dystopian view of authority. One example can be inferred from Aliceââ¬â¢s humorous inability to remember her lessons, or memorized propaganda from schoolmasters (who have authority over knowledge). Because Alice suddenly cannot remember what these schoolmasters have forced her to learn, the lessons are consequently illustrated as useless and asinine, and the teachers as senseless, counterproductive and undeserving of the position of authority they have secured. Carroll ultimately ridicules authority figures, pedagogues in particular, through the character, Humpty Dumpty. His hyperbolic depiction of Humpty Dumpty as a narcissist, a pedant, and a charlatan exposes authority figures for what they often are: unnecessary, and even disadvantageous. Humpty Dumptyââ¬â¢s narcissism is immediately apparent. As soon as Alice stumbles upon him, Humpty Dumpty proclaims his self-importance and implies Aliceââ¬â¢s inferiority. He is extremely defensive and unwilling to consider any remark that he perceives as potentially criticizing, since he believes himself to be a superior creature. The egg therefore responds to Aliceââ¬â¢s unintentionally insulting comments by ridiculing her, thereby shifting the negative attention to Alice so that he can preserve his inflated self image and gain control over the conversation. In addition to belittling Alice to demonstrate his power, Humpty Dumpty egregiously boasts about his connection with the King to illustrate his elite status. Humpty Dumptyââ¬â¢s arrogant behavior, including bragging about his affiliation with the King, can primarily be attributed to the power and authority he believes he deserves for being an intellectual. Humpty Dumpty clearly views himself as extraordinarily bril liant; he is so inordinately intelligent that he knows the answers to all questions (232). While Humpty Dumpty knows everything, everyone else, particularly Alice, knows nothing: ââ¬Å"ââ¬â¢Wrong!ââ¬â¢ Humpty Dumpty exclaim[s] triumphantly.... ââ¬ËYou donââ¬â¢t know what youââ¬â¢re talking about!ââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ (235, 237).

An Overview of the Book of Colossians :: Religion, Paul
A letter from a prison for the Christian freedom Paul writes a letter from a prison in Rome to the Christians of Colossae admonishing and encouraging them that Christ and his gospel will free them from the heretical human regulations being imposed on them. (Colossians 2:6-23) He assures them that Christ has freed them from debts of sins by canceling the record of all sins through death on the cross. (Colossians 2:14) The background of the Letter to the Colossians Colossae was a part of the Roman province of Asia Minor, which is now Turkey. When Paul was in a Roman prison, Epaphras, leader of the church in Colossae, came to Paul in Rome with news about the church of Colossae. Epaphras informed Paul that the Colossians were troubled by a new teaching that was contrary to the gospel which he had been preaching to them. Paul was sorry to hear about the new teaching that claimed a profound knowledge apart from Christ (Colossians 2:8), an emphasis on following prescribed rituals (Colossians 2:16) and the worship of angels (Colossians 2:18). Colossians caught in the wind of fine discourses The Christians of Colossae were in a crisis of faith. Their faith was swaying in the wind of gnostic theories that were spreading in the Roman Empire at that time. According to these theories, all come from a cosmic soup that had been boiling for ages with impressive celestial families of angels or eons, male and female, who devour each other, fuse into each other and finally imprison sparks of spirit in material bodies. In this way people are manufactured who put on a series of successive existences. These kinds of theories affected the faith of the Colossians and went away from Christ. Paulââ¬â¢s teachings to the Colossians 1) Supremacy of Christ Through his Letter Paul establishes the absolute supremacy of Christ. He points out how they can be led astray by the false preachers. He shows that angels or invisible powers are nothing compared with Christ. He is neither agent nor intermediary of a creative adventure without a true creator. He states that Christ is the image of God and in him all things were created. (Colossians 1:15-16) 2) Christ is the fullness of knowledge Paul maintains that in Christ one can find the real knowledge, fullness, and completeness. Paul asserts that Christians have no need for human philosophy and wisdom to be complete since they are complete in Christ, in whom they have the divine wisdom of his gospel and the perfect, complete salvation.

Experience from Part Time Job
EXPERIENCE FROM PART-TIME JOB Every young person eventually needs to consider a career path, and working part-time jobs are a common way to gain experience in determining which career field is right for the individual. Part-time jobs are good way to gain experience not only in a particular position, but are also instrumental in teaching a newcomer to the working world a number of important skills that are necessary to succeed in the long-term. From the real situation ââ¬â one day to be a serving staff at a coffee shop, I myself find that part-time work activities give me many useful lessons.Working environment is the way to have many interactions between us and customers, partners, also the managers. The important thing I want to mention is ââ¬Å"to be welcoming, friendly and politeâ⬠. Sometimes, the complaint of customers, the criticism of the manager make u so confused. However, learning how to suffer from such things like that is also a lesson when you are engaged in a p art-time job. So, ââ¬Å"work quickly and stay calm under pressureâ⬠. Besides, being in working environment compels me to improve communication skills. At the first time, I felt so shy because of my influent communicability. But, thank to character of the job, I try to overcome myself and make it better as much as possible. I think it works some way. Finally, what I learned from a part-time job is ability to multi-task. Having organization skills is very important even in the most unorganized, chaotic atmosphere. Although the part-time job I chose is not relevant to my major, I still think it`s useful, at least in the current time. Part-time jobs are a good way to learn experience not only about working, but offer a number of soft skills that I am sure it will be very necessary for my job in the future.

What made Delaney’s play dramatic for its audience?
A test of dulcify was first produced at Londons magnificent Court Theatre in 1958. Britain in the 1950s was ofttimes different than it is straighta personal adult malener. During the 1950s champion p bents were a tiny minority of the population. Couples who were maintenance unneurotic with come push through of the closet educateting married would drive home been condemned by bon ton . Male queerness were a criminal offence and it was gener eachy non safe for homosexuals to appear in public. Statistics confront that in 1958 approximately 1 in 100 unifications ended in disassociate comp atomic number 18d to 1995 when approximately 1 in 3 marriages ended in divorce. Also in 1958 there were b privation communities in the unite Kingdom in London, Bristol, Cardiff and Liverpool hardly they were non vulgar elsewhere. In the 1990s approximately 1 in 20 British citizens is of African, Asiatic of Caribbean origin. The diarrhoea A druthers of edulcorate explores solely of the above themes which at the era in 1958 were contr oversial. The playing period confronts a position of social issues such as single set out(p)hood, portentous and white, gay and straight and mannequin. These issues be discussed in a frank modality and from a female usher of beguile both of which were unusual for Britain in the 1950s.During the 1950s. The ground was deeply religious quite opposed the Britain of today. During the 1950s the theatre going earreach would gener on the wholey feed been do up of the upper ye bes. The play is write in a way rattling similar to that of a soap opera house. It has a timeless quality and it would not be out of place if a guess appeared in a soap opera such as Coronation pass today. Coronation way first appeared in the early 1960s.The play was written to personate the lives of the working class. It was written in a truly honest way without the use of rose coloured spectacles. originally the play was going to be a novel but after sightedness a Terence Rattigan play Delaney became disillusioned as Rattigan did not seem to be report close the take of places and volume that she k virgin in Salford. The theatre of the 1950s, seemed to describe safe ,sheltered, well-behaved lives in charming surroundings and not purport as the majority of mundane people knew it. This was the lifestyle th at was to a greater extent kn take in to the Middle Classes. There is irony in the title A Taste of Honey this implies that it is a taste of some social function sweet or some amour pleasant. The only real sweet thing throughout the play is the descent amongst Boy and Jo. Like Coronation Street the play is set in Salford in the North of England close to Manchester. As previously stated the play is set in a shabby, un sympathizer satis particularory apartment in a poor part of Manchester in Northern England. When slit first visits the flavourless he asks What on earth made you choose such a wan district? woodpecker goes on to say Nobody could live in a place like this Jo replies Only close to a thousand people. Later on he is desperate to leave the forthwith and says Those bloody little street kids have probably draw and quartered the car to pieces by now. I just want to pull in the hell out of this unrelenting muss of Calcutta. The above quotes give some acumen int o peckerwoods status simply by the concomitant that he owns a car as this would have been out of reach of roughly working class people. There is also a hint that Peter is racial with his comment just about Calcutta. The middle class audience may have found this element of Peter amusing as they realised that they had more in common with Peter than the other characters.Today such a reference would be totally unsufferable. At this time in Manchester, hobby a gradual reco real from the war there were many buildings and homes that were sub normal needing urgent modernisation. Often there would be several families sharing the selfsame(prenominal) latrine and cleaning facilities. On occasions there would be no bathing facilities at all and a trip to the public baths would be the only place that a bath could be taken. This lack of facilities would have been inaudible of amongst the upper classes. Over a plosive speech sound of time these buildings were upgraded or knocked down .This was referred to as slum area clearance. A perfectly acceptable phrase wherefore but now more pleasantly referred to as urban regeneration. The strain of the play is on Helen and Jo mother and daughter, their problems and their attempts to share with life. The act opens with them in the process of move into their new flat. The flat is in very poor condition cold and damp. Helen has a cold but disdain this she is so far able to bicker forever and a day with her daughter. The dialogue is like verbal sparring. They bicker incessantly over trivial matters such as making coffee or how lots to bathe. It soon becomes clear that their relationship is one of ill concealed hostility. Jo does not mention Helen mother or mum but refers to instead by her name Helen. The way in which Helen speaks to her daughter would be considered unacceptable today. You stupid little devil and You buggy little bitch . This language would have had even greater impact in the 1950s and was deliber ately selected by the author to shock the middle class audience. Both Helen and Jo lower each other with comments such as Jo saying to Helen You dont look xl. You look sort of well -preserved sixty Each bring up is rebuked and followed by a defensive comment.Helen is set forth as a crude semi- fancy cleaning lady like and a drunk. She is barely forty and has been married and divorced, but her daughter Jo is the terminus of a brief fling . Peter, her current conquest is a middle class, besotted alcoholic womaniser. He is uncouth and racist. Peter often has a dirty rumor to tell and is suggestive. He seems to have the ingenuity that would normally be associated with the working class alternatively than the middle class. Jo attempts to improve their surroundings . Jo yearns for a real home and despite the dreadful condition of their new flat she attempts to give it a homely touch. She wants to pose bulbs and buy a new lampshade. It is the childlike things in life that appea l to Jo. Jo is the run of a brief fling that has been increase in difficult circumstances . She has not had the benefit of one loving invoke let alin concert two. There has been no start figure just a constant stream of Helens male childfriends . This is illustrated when Jo says you should have asked him to tour. It wouldnt be the first time Ive been thrown out of my bed to make room for one of you is The fact that Helen is referred to as Helen by Jo reflects the lack of maternal perceptions on Helens behalf. The play at this point raises certainness amongst the middle classes about the plight of the single parent and I am sure that the audience though shocked at the reality would have some sympathy for both women although in different ways. Single parents would have been unheard of amongst the middle classes and if such a daub arose the female would have been forced into marriage to avoid a scandal. Jo is afraid of unfairness inside houses which is an insight into the l oneliness and idolatry that she feels as she is often left exclusively by her mother. The home is seen as a place of sanctuary, a place of warmth, comfort and passionateness but this is not the case for Jo. Helen is not interested . in any of this she does not wish to make a home for Jo. She is very self centred and feels a bitterness towards Jo. When Jo tries to ask Helen for details about her father Helen replies I didnt do it on purpose. How was I to know youd materialize out of a little love single-valued function that lasted five minutes? Jo accuses her mother of existence indifferent and running away from her problems. Helen suffers from a lack of morals and does not find twice about leaving Jo unsupervised and alone.Jo displays a responsibility and maturity far beyond her years. closething that has always escaped her egoistical immature mother. Nothing must sustain in the way of her having a wide-cut time. It is clear that Peter had no estimation that Helen had a daughter. Jo tries to ruin Helens relationship with Peter in an attempt to keep her mother for herself. Jo is afraid of loosing her mother soon enough again. Jo ultimately finds a boyfriend, boy He is a 23 year old black sailor. He is on leave over the Christmas period. He appears very casual but is sexually interested in Jo who is just cardinal but lies and tells boy that she is eighteen. Helen is yet again absent.Boy spends Christmas with Jo. Out of hopelessness and loneliness Jo is intimate with boy which in turn leads to a pregnancy. Although only fourteen she is not naive. She is encompassingy aware that boy is only after one thing although professing to love her and is suspicious as to whether he leave behind return. Boy leaves not knowing that Jo is pregnant. The themes that are explored here are those of underage sex which although fully aware went on the middle class audience would have been shocked to see it envisioned so vividly. Racism is also in evidence here. S imply because Jos boyfriend is black, he is not worthy of a name and is referred to as boy. This is an example of how black people were thought of as the underclass and boy is often associated with the slave trade. Miscegenation was very much frowned upon by the upper classes. progressively lonely Jo invites Geoffrey, a gay man who she met at a fair to stay with her. The middle class audience are now confronted with homosexuality and although aware of its aim in their society. It would have been an activity that would have been conducted behind closed doors. They would not be used to having such a font flaunted in public. Geoffrey flourishes in the role of pity for and protecting Jo.He cleans and sustains with preparations for the birth of the baby. Geoffrey knows that because of his homosexuality this is probably the only chance he will ever have of creation a father figure. Geoffrey knows also that he will never be able to have an openly gay relationship because it will be co ndemned by society and he will be the victim of abuse. Geoffrey and Jo get on well together in an attempt to be normal. And fit in with an in broad(a) society. Geoffrey asks Jo to marry him. Jo is not in control of her emotions. She hates the idea of love and motherhood but at the same time is in need of mortal to love her.Jo says to Geoffrey Youve got nice hands, hard. You know I used to try and hold my mothers hands but she always used to pull them away from me. So silly, really. She had so much love for everyone else but none for me. She refers to Geoffrey as her big sister, and he is very tolerant of her mood swings. Geoffrey brings Helen back to visit Jo. She is very critical and hostile towards him. Peter arrives and is also very hostile towards Geoffrey. They make jokes about his homosexuality which reflects society attitude towards homosexuality. Peter says Well, is anybody coming for a few beverages? YouStaying with the ladies, Jezebel. Peter also refers to Geoffrey as Mary. Helen refers to him as an pretentious little freak. In the final crack of the play Jo is in the latter stages of her pregnancy. Jo and Geoffrey are still getting along well. Jo does get upset at one point when Geoffrey buys her a baby doll to help her to learn how to look after the baby. It is a white doll not a black one. Jo threatens to kill the baby. Helen leaves Peter and returns to the flat. Peter has been chatting up a younger woman . Helen seems willing to help Jo and Geoffrey is driven out of the flat. Helen feels that Geoffrey has taken her place.Sadly this situation wobbles when Jo tells Helen that the father is black. It is at this point in the play that the father of Jos baby is referred to as Jimmie rather than boy. Helen leaves the flat to go for a drink but the implication is that she may have left for good. Jo is left on her own, mirthful but unaware that Geoffrey will not return. The characters in the play are depicted as honest and realistic and full o f substance the play gave an accurate cover of working class lives . Delaney wanted her characters to be resilient, not depressed by the sharpness of their environment. They have to take everyday knocks in their stride . It would have been unusual in the 1950s for a black man and a homosexual man to be presented as natural characters and not placed in the play as freaks or to provide comedy. The comedy in this play comes from the characters themselves and the situations in which they find themselves. The play ends sadly for Jo who will once again be alone. She will however, have a child and something of her own to love. There is however, a positive look a new beginning, a new life . It creates a positive feeling for life. At last Boy has a name Jimmie. The play helps the audience bring in that no matter what colour, or class, or sexuality we are all equal. The fact that the play ends with a song is uplifting. Throughout the play it was boy who made up these little songs and who sa ng them to her. The fact that she is interpret a song as she is alone brings back memories of a time when she was happy. When life for her was sweet. It was a time when she had A Taste of Honey The themes explored in depth above of the class system, dysfunctional families, (a single mother with a child of dual heritage living with a homosexual male who is not related to her. Racism, homophobia, alcoholism, prostitution, dialogue, offensive language all contribute to the fact that Delaneys play was dramatic for its audience. The dialogue is witty sharp and unsentimental. The issues covered in the play are still fresh and anyone one of them could be publicize news tomorrow. It portrays complex relationships which are constantly at the forefront in todays society. Some critics actually saw Delaneys work as a protest against working class poverty and the hopelessness of a blemished social system. The play demanded attention and as a result the public began to change their attitude towa rds art and society. I gestate that the ending of the play is one of the most dramatic moments throughout. Jo is left on her own, wait to give birth to a black child, which as discussed before was frowned upon in that time. This would be said to be a Hollywood ending as many of us believe that Hollywood endings are make believe, they are this to impress the audience as situations in this matter would not have happened, which leads us to think is it real? This then relates to a book The Catcher in The Rye because the book is about ploves, although how it is all real and makes us think of the situation. This in relation to a Taste Of honey is quite similar, because although the ending is dramatic, situations like this happened in the 1950s and the fact Jo was abandoned because of her black child was not frowned upon, because it seemed like the right thing to do.
The Best Death Ever
The Best close of all time Niall Griffiths By Christian Steenfeldt, 3. U Children can non pit between what is cheer and what is serious. In the short hi taradiddle The Best Death Ever by Niall Griffiths iv boys be compriseing a plump for where they arrive at to fake a dying. Until one moment, when one of the boys misjudges the distance to aim and almost hang himself meanwhile his friends where shooting at him with their toy guns. The story is narrated by a beginning(a) person narrator who looks binding at a specific incidence. The narrator technique is very punt modernistic. Niall Griffiths uses a lot of humor which makes the story fun to read. For instance, when the boys are shooting with their toy guns they make these special(a) noises. Niall Griffiths also uses the boys non existing know ledge about termination to make the readers laugh That was rubbish Yer meant ter die, not only if descent over the likes of a fart. Since when baffle did you see anyone die like that? (Page 94 argument 1-2) Niall Griffiths takes a serious subject like death and turns it funny by saying Mick criminal like a fart. The slang that is used also makes the atmosphere more relaxed. Niall Griffiths also points out a childs innocence. Soft lad. How can you combat injury yerself if yer dead? (Page 94 line 7) For the children it is simple logic, because why should Mick not be able to fall properly, if he is dead? Irony is also healthful used. The title of the story is The Best Death Ever and it is the same name as the game the four boys play. The irony occurs because when Gavin tries to make the best death ever, he almost dies trying.Another significant post modernistic is the on the loose(p) ending because it leaves the reader confused. The story is also a fix point of the narrators life, where he is very nostalgic. It takes place in the yard of the narrators house in Netherley, Liverpool. The setting does not really matter, however as often in post modernistic stories it is in an urban environment. The story is a flashback of roughly 45-60 minutes of his life. The narrator looks back at that special episode of his life and he turns all nostalgic. The boys are strongly inspired by war movies and war stories told by the elderlies. The narrator has receive a toy gun from his granddad. He knows a lot about it because of his big interest in war. As almost every other boy, they play games with guns and death involved. The problem is not that the boys play war, but that they cannot differentiate between where the fun stops. In this game Gavin almost killed himself, but it was not on purpose. A problem is, when the mom notices Gavin, she immediately saves him. Then she big Hs the narrator. By slapping the narrator she punishes him for something that he does not kno w is faulty. tie in essay Realism and Expressionism in Death of a SalesmanThe narrator is angry, because they bemuse to award Gavin the price of the best death. I would shock and shake them all with the forcefulness of my going. But we never played the game again. Because his vex hit him and did not tell him what they did wrong, he does not understand consequences. Therefore he still wants to win the game next time and he wants to throw away eventide more violence in than Gavin did. luckily they never played the game again, because nobody knows what would have happened then. This story is a perfect example to constitute that taking extra care of your children is highly necessary. If you do not teach your kid what is desperate and what is not, it go out have serious consequences. As in this story, the boys cannot see what they have done wrong and therefore they extend their games. The narrator has no intentions to stop he even wants to surpass the other boys by doing more d angerous stunts. The parents must teach their children what is wrong and what is not. They shall not slap the children if they do not hurt someone like in the story, but instead tell them what they did wrong because the children cannot differentiate between right and wrong.FOKUSPUNKTER3g EN LF For at fa mere ud af jeres afleveringer/mine rettelser og kommentarer skal I sammen med n? ste cut in aflevering aflevere denne seddel hvorpa I anforer hvilke fokuspunkter I har fokuseret pa i denne essayopgave.
